Setting Up iCloud Family Sharing for your Child
Apple iCloud and Screen Time
Apple iCloud has features and services more than what is displayed on iCloud.com. One of these services is called Screen Time. With Screen Time, you can access real-time reports showing how much time you spend on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch. Screen Time lets you know how much time you and your kids spend on apps, websites, and more. You can also set limits for what you want to manage other than basic features you can also remotely manage the screen time of your kids or family members using this service. This way, you can make more informed decisions about how you use your devices, and set limits if you’d like to. If you have already used screen time and you want to manage remotely the device of your child, below are our step by step guide on how to set up and prepare your child’s device:
Family Sharing and Apple ID for your Child Account
With Family Sharing, you can manage your child’s device by creating an Apple ID for your child and managing it on your device. Their own Apple ID will allow them to participate in Family Sharing and use other Apple services such as iCloud, iMessage, FaceTime, and Game Center.
To participate in Family Sharing, make sure each family member has their own Apple ID Children under 13* can’t create an Apple ID on their own. However, the family organizer can create an Apple ID on their child’s behalf.
If your child already has an Apple ID, you can add it to your family group and update their email address, date of birth, security questions, and more. If your child does not yet have an Apple ID, use the steps below to create one.
In your iOS device, iPad, iPod, or iPhone
Go to Settings > [your name] > Family Sharing > Add Family Member > Create a Child Account > Next.

Enter the requested information for your payment method and tap Next. If you don’t have a payment method on file, you need to add one.
Next is to create an Email Address for your Child that they can use to log-in to their device.
